About Me

I'm Caroline. I’m a humanistic, pluralistic counsellor. My humanistic approach is about recognising and valuing your individual thoughts, feelings and experiences, in a way that reflects your authentic self.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, relationship issues, bereavement, etc.

What is
Pluralistic Therapy?

In simple terms, pluralistic therapy is about collaboration. It's like using a map, with many different routes – we explore these paths together and I walk alongside you, supporting you as you find the one that feels right for you. Crucial to this is the therapeutic relationship which we create together.

Your Space
Your Pace

My foundation is in person-centred therapy. This means our sessions are a safe, warm, and understanding space where you are free to lead the way. I'm here to listen empathetically and without judgment, supporting you as you explore and grow.

Diverse Experiences
Inclusive Environment

I've worked with many different people, dealing with a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, and anger, as well as relationship and career issues. My practice is an inclusive, welcoming and affirmative space for people of all walks of life and identities. I have particular experience working with neurodiversity. Whoever you are, I’m here to create a safe environment where you can discuss all aspects of your own experiences.

Exploring
Together

While my main approach is person-centred, I’m open to the many other approaches that might work for you, and we can combine these to suit where you’re at right now. This flexibility is key to allowing you to finding what works for you in your journey.

Communication is
Key

We’ll often chat about how the therapy is going, what's working, and what's not. This open conversation helps make sure that the approach continues to suit you and your needs as you grow.

Special Focus Areas

Emetophobia

I’m particularly interested in working with clients who struggle with a fear of vomiting. I have experience in this area, and am actively researching ways in which pluralistic counselling can benefit those with emetophobia. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and together we can find a way forward, building your confidence and addressing your fears. I draw on my experience as an academic to develop a unique approach, which is informed by the latest emetophobia research, and led by your own individual needs and experiences.

Higher Education Professionals

With a previous ten-year career in academia, I understand the unique pressures faced by academics and postgraduate students. Whether it's about managing burnout, exploring issues around neurodiversity, workload, professional relationships, or getting a handle on procrastination, your therapy session is a space where we can work together to make sense of these experiences. I offer some discounted slots for postgraduate students and those experiencing academic precarity.

Qualifications and experiences

I’m a qualified counsellor, with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

A registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), I work to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Trained in online and phone counselling, I have experience of offering remote sessions to varied clients.

I’m fully insured and am registered with the Information Commisioners’ Office (ICO). I also hold a full, enhanced DBS disclosure.

Please note that I do not offer a crisis service. If you feel you are at immediate risk, please call 999 or go to your nearest A&E department.
